Bacteriology & Microbiology Testing

Bacteriology testing includes aerobic and anaerobic swab culture , fluid, and tissue. Identification of the isolated species is carried out as exhaustively and Sensitivity testing is performed on pure isolates. Sensitivity is not run on mixed growths unless a significant species or potential pathogens are present. For blood cultures, please contact us for special culture bottles.
Bacteriology and Microbiology testing also includes Mycology, the analysis of diseases resulting from infections with moulds and yeasts. Mycology services are limited to morphological identifications of routine cultures, and to molecular identifications in the evaluation of urogenital infections.

Cancer Screening/Tumour Marker Testing

We use tumor markers to detect the presence of certain types of cancer in the body and to monitor the progress of cancer treatment. Tumor markers are substances found in the blood, body fluids, or tissues that are produced by cancer cells. If a certain tumor marker is found in the body, it can indicate that the cancer is still present and ongoing treatment may be recommended.

Specifically, we can use this test, in conjunction with other tests, to monitor the success of a current therapy, evaluate the need for surgical intervention, or assess the development of recurrence.
Tumour markers are characteristics of cancer cells that can provide information to help treat different types of cancer. A variety of tests to identify breast cancer tumour markers can be performed. Tumour marker testing provides vital information about the cancer at the cellular level. Together with physical characteristics, such as size, type and stage of the tumour, marker testing can help determine the appropriate medicine and timing of treatment needed to treat the disease most effectively.

Endocrinology & Thyroid Cancer Testing

We offer the full spectrum of routine and advanced Endocrinology testing. Labcare plus medical laboratory technicians are also vast experienced in the evaluation and management of thyroid cancer.

We provide consultative and diagnostic measures for a wide spectrum of endocrine disorders including Thyroid, Diabetes, Pituitary, Adrenal, Osteoporosis, Calcium issues, Polycystic Ovarian Disorders and Transgender hormonal therapy.

Haematology Testing/Diagnostic Blood Tests

Haematology tests in our scope include routine haematology procedures, fluid cell counts, routine coagulation and urinalysis testing, special haematology testing, special stains, and Immunophenotyping.

All results are available via electronically immediately after verification by the laboratory technologist. Manual differentials are only performed when ordered and only if abnormal flags occur during testing on the cell counter.

Immunohematology

Immunohematology includes the disciplines commonly known as transfusion medicine and blood banking.

At Labcare Plus Medical Laboratory, Immunohematology examinations are performed to assist in prenatal care, as well as in preparation for other surgical procedures.

Immunology Testing

Immunology laboratory tests offer a wide range of assays to aid in the diagnosis, management, and monitoring of medical problems associated with various immunological and infectious diseases. Our laboratory performs diagnostic testing for autoimmune diseases, allergen sensitivity, as well as infectious diseases and HIV serological testing.

The laboratory performs a variety of esoteric testing, including protein electrophoresis and immunofixation. The laboratory offers a number of immunoassays, including radio-immunoassays, for other medical conditions, including assays for tumor markers, routine and specialized endocrine testing and other esoteric analyses.
The introduction of exciting cutting-edge technologies is a continuous process for Labcare plus medical Laboratory, resulting in better quality and improvement of turnaround times.

Parasitology Testing

Parasitology testing evaluates stool for the presence of ova, parasites and levels of beneficial flora, imbalanced flora, possible pathogenic viruses and bacteria. Such testing can help reveal hidden causes behind acute or chronic conditions that develop from parasitic infections or dysbiosis.

Specimens are carefully analysed by highly trained technicians using new staining procedures and advanced multiplex polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and immunoassay techniques. These accurate detection methods allow for increased detection rates, increasing the awareness of the important relationship between parasitic infection and a broad spectrum of illnesses and diseases.
These tests are ideal for patients with sudden changes in bowel pattern, especially for those who have been traveling abroad or camping. The increase in worldwide travel, coupled with increasing immigration to the United States, contributes to the spread and incidence of parasitic infections. In addition, parasitic infections are commonly transmitted through fecally contaminated food, water, or other materials within this country.

Special Chemistry

Clinical chemistry is concerned with analysis of bodily fluids for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes utilizing tests for various components of blood and urine.

Our chemistry department utilizes many testing modalities, including, but not limited to, the use and measurement of enzyme activities, electrophoresis, immunoassay and multiplex technology.
There are many blood tests and clinical urine tests available that enable extensive diagnostic capabilities.

Urinalysis Testing

A urinalysis is usually ordered when a doctor suspects a urinary tract infection or a health problem that can cause an abnormality in the urine.

This test can measure: Number and variety of red and white blood cells, Presence of bacteria or other organisms, Presence of substances such as glucose that usually shouldn’t be found in the urine, PH which shows how acidic or basic the urine is
Concentrated.

Virology

Virology is the area of diagnostic laboratory medicine that deals with the detection, identification, and quantification of pathogenic viruses.

Labcare Plus Medical Laboratory does a wide range of immunological and molecular techniques for the detection of a wide range of viral diseases. We also performs viral subtyping where indicated for select organisms.

Toxicology Testing

Labcare plus Medical Laboratory screens urine samples for drugs-of-abuse and alcohol using state-of-the-art equipment that delivers a 99.9% sensitivity rate. Urine screens include adulteration (if requested) and test results are available in 24 hours.

Urine drug screens also include adulteration and over-the-counter medication detection (if requested). Each specimen delivered to our lab is secure and protected. The specimen are stored in a secure location until analysis begins.
We offers custom drug panels to test for multiple substances and follows SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) guidelines for cut-off levels.
In addition to Urine Toxicology testing, we also offers oral fluid drug test by analysing saliva specimens for parent drugs and their metabolites.
An absorbent collection device is placed in the mouth and the saliva collected is confirmed for drugs of abuse. Utilizing robust and reliable Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) technology allows for testing at low concentrations with fast and accurate analysis.
Oral fluid drug test features a modern collection and transportation system that provides a quick, less-invasive option for drug testing.
This highly accurate and efficient collection device has a built-in sample adequacy indicator that determines when a sufficient quantity of oral fluid has been collected. The indicator turns blue when an adequate volume of specimen is collected, which reduces the number of drug tests being reported as “quantity not sufficient”, or “QNS”, by the laboratory.

Cytopathology Diagnostic

Labcare Plus Medical Laboratory Cytopathology Department is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in the diagnosis of malignancies. All cytotechnologists are certified with diagnostic training in all areas of testing. Laboratory technicians provide timely diagnostic services to all health care providers.

Testing is performed on a wide variety of specimens including: Oesophageal Washing, Body Fluids, Cyst Fluids, Fine Needle Aspirates (FNA), Pap Smears, HPV, Sputum, Urine Cytology, FISH Urovysion Tests and Consultative Services.
